Cypress
Cypress smells of Mediterranean graveyards and hillside trees — dry, resinous-green and slightly smoky-woody, cooler than sweet pine. In perfume it sharpens fern openings and gives fougères a southern silhouette. On skin cypress is clarifying and short-to-mid lasting before softer woods arrive. Wear it for wild and English fern moods: evergreen verticals, wind in needle branches, green dignity without Christmas-candle sweetness.
